This is a list of Figures in the scale of 1/72, to go with your WW1 Military Models. As with the other lists, this list isn't exhaustive, but I trust that I have covered the main manufacturers. The list will be updated when I hear of new manufacturers and new sets.

An excellent site for anyone interested in smallscale figures is of course Plastic Soldier Review. Note that they have a special WW1 section. Don't miss it! (Most of the links below are to this really super site!) And also note that the photos below all show the figures larger than life, in most cases twice as big - so admire the sculptors skills!

Five first kits in the list (marked with italics) are reissued ex-Airfix sets, which, although old, are still of very fine quality. HÄT has started their own line as well, covering some very important and interesting subjects. And they will issue some more! Soon to follow are sets of Russian Heavy Weapons and Austro-Hungarian Heavy Weapons (including a 37mm Trench Gun!), and eventually a set of Turkish Artillery! And more is rumored to come, perhaps even armour!

These excellent sets shows EMHAR:s continued committment to smallscale WW1. Both the animation and the variety in poses and equipment is very good. Slender, anatomically correct figures.

These sets may now be hard to get, but they are well worth the try. Slender, anatomically correct figures. My only gripe is that the helmets of the French are too small!

The sheer variety of this range is to be seen to be believed! Late War and Early War, HMG:s, Command figures, Artillery Crews, Cavalry, Mechanics, Drivers, Pilots, Artillery etc etc.

As with most Wargaming Firms, the figures are usually sold as singles.

Note however, that these are pretty typical Wargaming Figures, meaning that they are stocky in build, and have not too pretty, Picasso-esque faces. They don't mix too well with the anatomically correct figures of HÄT, EMHAR or Revell.

Another Wargaming range with impressive variety: HMG:s, LMG:s, Mortars, Cavalry, Artillery etc. And as with most Wargaming Firms, also these figures are sold as singles.

Note however, that like IT Miniatures, these are typical Wargaming Figures, meaning that they are stocky in build. They don't mix too well with the anatomically correct figures of HÄT, EMHAR or Revell. Unlike IT Miniatures, the variety of poses isn't too great: many are repeated again and again. (The Faces are better, though.)

Dark Dream Studio

Dark Dream Studio has thus far only released one set of figure, all connected with WW1 aviation: pilots, seated or standing, ground crew, high officers, even a female lady admirer!

The figures are very nice, anatomically correct, finely detailed, and their varied and relaxed poses make them ideal for dioramas.

Highly recommended!
